Barcelona Dismiss Ronaldinho Rumours

Officials from Spanish giants Barcelona have been quick to refute speculation that superstar Ronaldinho is poised to make a shock move to Chelsea.

Reports in the morning press suggested Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would make a ‘money no object’ bid for the Brazilian after meeting with his brother and agent Roberto de Assis Moreira twice recently.
It was suggested that Abramovich would consider it money well spent as Chelsea continue to play effective functional football, rather than effective entertaining football.
Ronaldinho has twice won the World Player of the Year and is widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted players on the planet, and would add a touch of entertainment to any team.
But Txiki Berguiristain, Barcelona’s sport director has moved quickly to deny the speculation.
"We do not want to sell him," Berguiristain told Catalunya Radio. "Ronaldinho is our player and I am totally convinced that he will remain at the club.
"In this aspect the decision of Barcelona is clear."
Berguiristain is not surprised that clubs such as Chelsea are interested in the forward, but is adamant that until his contract expires in three years, Ronaldinho is not going anywhere.
"It is normal that any of the big clubs in the world desires Ronaldinho, but he has signed a deal with us," added Berguiristain.
Begiristain didn’t seem concerned that Chelsea owner Abramovich held meetings with Ronaldinho’s agent: "This is a subject that does not interest me."
